The Miyoo Mini Plus is the device Onion OS was built for, but you must be on base firmware 202305052130 (May 2023) or newer before installing. Format the microSD as FAT32 (MBR), unzip the Onion release onto the card root, and the device runs its installer on first boot. After the Package Manager finishes, add ROMs to the Roms subfolders and BIOS files to BIOS. On Windows, Onion Desktop Tools can format, download, and install Onion in one step.

FAQ

Which firmware version does the Mini Plus need before Onion OS?
Base (stock) firmware 202305052130 or later. The Mini Plus shipped on older firmware that the current Onion OS will not install on, so update the stock firmware first using Miyoo's official firmware package.
Why must the card be FAT32 and not exFAT?
The Onion installer and the Mini Plus boot loader read FAT32. Cards over 32GB cannot be set to FAT32 by Windows' built-in formatter — use Rufus (Large FAT32) or the SD Card Formatter / Onion Desktop Tools instead.
Do I copy the folder or the files?
Copy the contents of the unzipped Onion folder — the 7 folders (.tmp_update, BIOS, Media, miyoo, miyoo354, RetroArch, Themes) must sit at the root of the card, not inside a subfolder.
