Firmware for the Micro is updated over a wired USB-C connection using the 8BitDo Firmware Updater on a Windows or macOS PC; Bluetooth cannot transfer firmware. Separately, the 8BitDo Ultimate Software mobile app is used only to customize Keyboard-mode button mappings, not for firmware. Always finish an update on the cable, then unplug and power-cycle the Micro before using it.

FAQ

Can I update firmware over Bluetooth or on my phone?
No. Firmware must be flashed by USB-C with the 8BitDo Firmware Updater on a PC. The phone app only handles Keyboard-mode key mapping.
The updater doesn't see my Micro.
Use a data-capable USB-C cable, try a different USB port, and if needed put the Micro into update mode (red LED blinking) before clicking update.
